	WTX 5010 Solution Most healthcare companies are trying to determine the best approach for implementing a HIPAA 5010 solution. Many have decided that, although a completely new solution for 5010 (rip and replace) would be ideal, they simply would not have enough time to meet the federally mandated deadlines. One popular approach is a Map and Wrap solution (aka Step Up, Step Down) using a repository to fill in the "5010 gaps" for a temporary and even longterm approach. Map and Wrap means that the existing production code would remain in place and that 4010 to/from 5010 maps would be developed and "wrapped" around current production. This would create another translation layer and therefore slow down performance. However, for most companies fewer maps would be needed and development and testing would be reduced. We have completed base 5010 IBM WTX Map and Wrap Solutions in Version WTX 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3 for all transactions. NOTE: We only provide consulting services. Your organization has decided the best 5010 approach is to build a 5010 process along side the currect 4010A1 process. Next step is QA testing.
